Breakfast
Breakfast for a red tail hawk, that is. Chris spotted this guy dining alfresco under the mesquite. Apparently we were unwelcome guests, as he took off with his partially eaten meal, to dine elsewhere in peace and quiet.

Saturday, Portal celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in glorious, campy, laugh-out-loud fun. This was my first Portal St. Patty’s celebration, and one not to be missed, not only because the after-parade singing and festivities were held at the LIBRARY, but also because life cannot be complete without cheering on a group of grey-haired, fuzzy green band hat wearing, kazoo playing, high stepping parade participants. The parade was followed by refreshments (green punch and cookies galore) at the library, with entertainment provided by a group of singers led by vocalist Roberta Ward and keyboardist Jean Wadsworth. The highlight for me was hearing “I’ll take you home again, Kathleen.” Not very often I hear my name in a song.
