When it is over

Mary Oliver

When it’s over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.
When it’s over, I don’t want to wonder
if I have made of my life something particular and real.
I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened,
or full of argument.
I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.

Stormy days

We enjoyed a full week of warm and sunny weather until yesterday when the rain/hail/snow clouds returned. Never a dull moment here!

During the warm days Chris and I worked hard on the house and land. We painted asphalt emulsion (a tarry substance the consistency of very thick pudding) on the block work on the back of the house.  This works to deter moisture from coming under the house after we fill in around the house with dirt. I can’t wait to get to some real landscaping.  We also worked on putting up some fencing.  When we took down fencing last fall to bring in the house, Chris and a friend saved all the wires on large cable spools.  Unfortunately, they rolled up four wires at a time, thinking this would save us time down the road.  What happened instead was that we had over a couple hundred feet of four-strand wire to untangle. Ugh!  Lesson learned.
